My name is Georgiana and I am from Romania. First of all, I thank Jon Miles for creating this site.
My story begins in August 2021. I mention from the beginning that I never adopted a correct position on the chair. I always sat with one leg raised on the chair or with both feet raised to the chest.
After an extended stay in the car I felt a pain in the coccyx area, which gave way when I stood up. I had no pain at night. For a week I took ibuprofen, after which I went to the orthopedist. He told me it was nothing and recommended another type of anti-inflammatory.
Seeing that the pain did not subside, I decided to have an MRI. With this MRI I went to another orthopedist who told me that I had coccyx subluxation. I followed 10 days of physiotherapy and 2 attempts to manipulate the coccyx, without result.
I consulted a chiropractor. Having an L4 / L5 disc protrusion, he considered that the pain came from that place. After the first session I felt an improvement for 10 days, after which the pain returned, more intense. After a month, I went again to this chiropractor who applied a procedure to me, including for L5 / S1 this time. At this point the pain became unbearable, including at night.
I consulted another orthopedist and a neurosurgeon. They both gave me medication. I decided to do another MRI on my own, with a contrast agent. It showed an intracanal, intradural tumor, located posterior to the vertebral body S1, possibly ependymoma, 18mm.
At this point, everything became a mess for me. I consulted 4 neurosurgeons, 3 of them telling me that not that tumor causes me pain, that I actually have coccidinia.
I used lyrica, chlorzoxazone, diclofenac, vimovo and many others without any improvement.
I went to an osteopath who thought the pain came from L5 / S1. Following all the procedures applied, the pain spread to the buttocks, to the anus, sometimes behind the foot, to the left knee. My mobility was affected, my lumbar area very tense.
From that moment on, everything became an ordeal. I was in constant pain, no matter what position I took. It hurt when I was sitting in a chair, when I was walking, and I couldn't sleep for more than 3 hours because of the pain. I took 4 painkillers a day and it still wasn't enough.
I did 10 days of acupuncture and I felt a little improvement. Immediately after the acupuncture sessions I decided to go to the physiotherapist. It was the first time I met a fair man who really cared. During the meetings I told him that I found out from your site about Mr. Michael Durtnall. After 5 sessions in which he tried to determine where this problem came from, he honestly told me that he did not know how to help me. Following some blood tests, I detected an insufficient level of vitamin D3.
So I decided to set up a meeting with Michael Durtnall from Sayer Clinics in London (see Doctors and specialists in the UK, London).
In March 2022 I came to Michael Durtnall who did x-rays of my spine and coccyx. Looks like I have hyperlordosis and my coccyx is not mobile. I followed 4 sessions, after which I felt a little improvement. During this time I started taking vitamin D3, 5000 units a day.
The rectal manipulation is not painful, Michael is a very kind man, I felt very comfortable during the sessions. Between April 27 and June 1 I had 2 sessions a week with Michael. I replaced ibuprofen with some Chinese herbal medicines, recommended by a naturopath. Qi Jinxiang.
I felt a 60% improvement during the meetings with Michael. It's been a month since the last meeting. The pain is not so severe, I can walk.
I still can't sleep without pills. I don't know what the cause is but after about 2 hours of sleep, the pain wakes me up and subsides a little when I get to my feet.
In 3 days I will go to London again for 2 more meetings with Michael Durtnall. I hope it will be fine. I'll be back in a month to tell you how it was.
All the best,
Georgiana

I emailed more than a year after this story was posted, to ask for an update, as the long-term outcome of treatment is of great interest. In this case I did not get a reply.
