Specialist recommendation UK

Following a fall on to my tailbone, I had been suffering from pain upon sitting and walking for 3 months with no improvement and went to see Dr Robert Griffiths at his clinic in Liverpool Street (see Doctors and specialists in the UK, London). I had found advice and treatment offered through my GP to be unhelpful, being told that these injuries are slow healers and that I'd probably have problems for the rest of my life, without giving me any useful advice. I left all of these appointments feeling stupid and like there was no help.

Within 5 minutes of my first consultation with Rob, he told me that my final 2 vertebrae were compressed and that I had sprained my coccyx, damaging the attached muscles. Just having someone recognise that there was actually a physical problem was a relief in itself. I continued to see Rob for around 6 months, at first weekly and then less often as my symptoms improved. He treated me with manual manipulation, massage, ultrasound and acupuncture.

Rob is very knowledgeable, listens to you, explains everything so that you understand and advises you on exercises and adaptions you can make in your everyday life. He is also really friendly and kind and puts you at ease with the treatments. It was a big deal for me to pay to see someone privately, but I am so glad I sought help earlier rather than later; it was worth every penny and I would highly recommend Rob to anyone who has injured their coccyx.

Note from Jon Miles:

I emailed more than a year after this story was posted, to ask for an update, as the long-term outcome of treatment is of great interest. In this case I did not get a reply.
