Repeated surgery for pilonidal sinus

I suffer from pain my coccyx area from what is called a pilonidal sinus. A pilonidal sinus can be caused by a defect in that area one can be born with or through an injury. For me, I received a big and very bad bruise right beside my tailbone one winter while tobogganing. This bruise never healed but turned into an infection under the skin that would not heal.

Now, two years later, I have just come out of my third surgery after having it removed. I have been told that the previous two operations some of the infection had still been missed. I have high hopes after this last surgery but I am still sometimes wondering if this pilonidal sinus will ever go away.

I would be interested to know if there are others out there who have undergone more than one surgery as well and eventually were successful.

Thank you!
