Severe coccyx pain for 2.5 years

Manish Gupta -

I'm 29-year-old male from Delhi, India. I have had coccyx pain now for almost 2 1/2 years. My job is that I've to sit on the computer for 9-10 hours. Pain is at the tip of coccyx. It is very very painful to any touch. I'd taken so many treatments, be it medications, sitz bath, or 5 nerve blocks. Nothing has been of much help.

When the doctor gave me steroid injections, the pain was okay for the time till there was effect of injection, but I started to have the pain after that. Because of the pain, it is really difficult for me to sit for more than 15-20 minutes. Also, it is really difficult for me to sleep at night. First of all, it takes quite some time to fell asleep, but if I somehow fell asleep, it is for sure I will wake up at night 2-3 times because of the pain. I've also been to physiotherapy but that also has not helped much. After all the medications, 5 steroid injections, and PT, the pain is still persisting.

It has been quite depressing situation for me, because I'd been hospitalized with the tubercular pleural effusion (left lung) /TB in December 2002 (I'd taken antitubercular treatment for the same) and now I'm having this pain which has made my life very miserable.

I got admitted recently to get more evaluation done. I had MRI done this time as well (once earlier as well). It came out to be normal, with little disk bulging at L3-4. Doctors have advised me against surgery because there are too many complications linked with it.

Because of no diagnosis made by a doctor, it's really difficult for me to think about any other course of treatment. Till the etiology unknown for my coccyx pain.

I'm not sure what to do about this pain. It has made my life a living hell. If anybody can give me other suggestions then please do let me know.

Please help me. I'm really suffering real bad. Hope to hear from you pretty soon.
