Coccyx bent inwards at a sharp angle

Kirsty -

8 years ago, when I was 15, I was experiencing a lot of pain in my coccyx when standing. After almost a year of doctors appointments I was finally sent to a specialist who gave me a long awaited x-ray which showed that my coccyx bent inwards at a sharp angle. It is thought that this is something I was born with.

I am now 5 1/2 months pregnant and although I have mentioned my condition at every appointment I have been to, nobody is taking this seriously. Even my obstetrician refused to examine me and said we would wait until the birth. Obviously this concerns me, especially because when I was 15 the specialist advised me to be very careful about getting pregnant in the future.

I am really worried about this and I feel it is ruining my enjoyment of the pregnancy because I can't see past my back problems (I also suffer from sciatica) and I am worried that I will have to have an emergency c-section, something that I would rather be planned if necessary.

Anyone who has had a similar condition and has experienced pregnancy and birth please please let me know of any stories or advice. I feel very lonely and I have no support on this so any info, good or bad, would help me.
