1 week after coccygectomy

Anonymous - tdavidson@inebraska.com

I have suffered from a broken tailbone for about 5 years and finally was able to find a doctor that would perform a coccygectomy. I just had the surgery one week ago and am in great pain. Most of my worst pain comes from the muscles around the tailbone. It seems that they are too tight. I cannot sit, I must walk very slowly, it is a nightmare trying to roll over in bed, I can walk about 3 blocks though.

Does anyone have a similar experience? I went into this surgery talking to someone who had just had it done and went back to work after a week, so I wasn't really expecting this. I am 32 years old and in good physical health. I don't think that my recovery is going to be that quick.

Anyone, please feel free to email me.

Thank you

Note from Jon Miles:

Most people need a month or two before they return to work, and up to a year to fully recover. A feeling of tightness might be due to the stitches - it is too early to tell.
