My tailbone has been hurting for about 4-5 months now. I don't know what I did to hurt it. I did a search on line and found manual techniques for adjusting the tailbone.
On that page I clicked on Dr Jean Yves Maigne's manual treatments. I looked at the pictures and thought maybe I could try it for myself. I'm a massage therapist so I have an understanding of the body mechanics. It's a little awkward and hard to reach well but this is what I did... Standing in the shower and reaching behind me, I put my longest finger in my rectum felt for the tailbone internally and pulled "up" against the tailbone as if trying to lift it somewhat. When I did this I heard a "pop" and then all my pain was relieved! I still feel some soreness from the muscles but I can tell the coccyx is back in place!
I know a person can find doctors that can do this type of manual manipulation. Anyway, I hope this helps someone. I am so relieved to be without the pain! I hope it doesn't go out of alignment again.
