About a month ago my tailbone area started feeling like it was bruised, although I knew it wasn't because I hadn't fallen. It only hurts when I sit directly on my tailbone or when I try to stand up from sitting (which is quite often because I work at a call center and am sitting usually 7 hours a day). It also hurts when I sneeze or cough.
When I went to a doctor she said it was probably some soft tissue damage brought on by sitting, and told me to get an x ray, take pain killers and sit on a cushion. I just wish I knew why it started hurting so much and how I can make it stop! It doesn't bother me at all when I'm exercising. I'm going for an x ray tomorrow so maybe I'll find an answer then, but somehow I doubt it. It is reassuring to see that I'm not the only one suffering from this mysterious ailment!
