I am a 37 year old male who has had 5 surgeries in the past 11 years.
I kept getting diagnosed with a pilonidal sinus - but it kept coming back and I was in constant discomfort.
I went to a doctor recently who said it was unlikely I would have this re-occur 5 times - he suggested an MRI to determine if I had a dead bone - he said that if I did the body would keep attacking it and the infection would not go away.
I got the MRI and sure enough, part of my coccyx was dead - and the pool of infection was around it. Eventually as the pool built up, it started draining and my problem re-occurred.
He has recommended surgery - it sounds reasonable to me - has anybody gone through this before?
