I'm a soon to be 41 year old, athletic active male. A little over two years ago my wife purchased a bicycle for my birthday. We would ride with our three children around the neighborhood. I did not fall or have an accident but slowly starting having pain in my tailbone. I'm in sales and HAVE to drive 3-4 hours a day, but it was very uncomfortable to drive or sit in my office chair.
I eventually went to see my GP on several occasions who tried to be helpful, sending me to have x-rays, an MRI (which my insurance did not want to cover), several rectal exams (about 4 different times, I've had more fingers in me than a bowling ball) and even a bone scan, which all showed nothing.
I did go to an orthopedic (around May 2006) who gave me a cortisone shot in the coccyx. It seemed to work for about 2-3 weeks but, I'm right back where I started.
I have modified some of the things I do the past couple of months, not sitting on wooden chairs, changed vehicles to a softer ride which helps some.
So I do feel for all who have posted on this board and will continue to read hoping to find a solution.
